![]() ![]() Kudos to her! Jonathan was also great and had the task of educating the participants on manta rays. Throughout the afternoon and evening she continuously assessed the condition of everyone and was especially vigilant at night when things could have become very chaotic with all of the snorkelers in the water. Megan was super cool and it was obvious that she took the safety and enjoyment of her snorkelers very seriously. I cannot begin to express how awesome the crew was on our sunset snorkel and manta ray night dive! Patrick was excellent as captain and was very professional, friendly, and throughout the evening he continuously offered assistance to everyone while making everyone feel welcomed on board the boat. My wife and I had an amazing time with Patrick, Megan, and Jonathan of Big Island Divers on 8/15/14. I would use this same company again as they were easy to work with, friendly, priced as others, and safe. Overall a good experience that I would repeat when I'm back on the Big Island. The manta ray dive is made better by the large group of boats, as it is more light to attract the plankton, which attracts the mantas-so a bit different than your average dive, when a big group of boats typically would make me very unhappy. If you get sea sick at all you'll need to prepare due to the long (and surgey) surface interval. They do have hot chocolate for you after the second dive, when you are chilled to the bone. Then for the manta ray dive you just sit on the bottom, so not alot of movement to keep you warm. The surface interval is about 1.5 hours in the twilight, when you are already wet from the first dive. The main reason being that you get very cold. In the future I would do only the single tank dive, not the the sunset dive prior to the manta ray dive. They provide a dive computer on your console and will not cut your dive short because someone else has sucked their tank too fast-they escort you back to the mooring line and send you up as your reach your limit. Education by the crew on the mantas was good, all were friendly, fairly laid back, but safe. You do spend a bit of time waiting around for the boat to get loaded. They have you stop at the shop to pay and confirm all the equipment then meet at the boat ramp at 3:45.
